About this Item
----------( 1st Printing of the First Edition ) ---hardcover, a nice looking copy of a scarce book, a solid Very Good/Very Good+ example, light rubbing with some faint marks, crease on front blank endpaper, some age toning to the spine, ---no dustjacket (likely as issued), ---signed and inscribed by the author on the front blank endpaper " B. Perley Choate (two indecipherable words -might be a a town in Manitoba) from Prof Isaac B Choate 99 Pine???? St. Boston Mass.", ---the "B." in this case is Bessie Choate, ---Bessie Choate has forwarded this to another relative penning a lengthy note on the second blank endpaper "To my cousin -Dorothy Choate Herrimen who shares with me a great joy in the illustrious achievements of the author of these poems -an American Choate, who also found????? pleasure in all those who bore the same name -descendants of one John Choate who came to Ipswich, Mass. in 1643 and whose posterity have not passed without rank and fame in the United States and Canada. Sincerely Bessie P. Choate, Vancouver BC 1942", ---as well there is a UEL Christmas Greetings card from Bessie (again likely to Dorothy) to which she has penned a note and signeed, ---she talks about the "scare of war" so this was likely sent in 1938/39 just before the start of WWii, ---Isaac Choate was a Bowdoin graduate, professor, lawyer author (poetry and prose), ----BESSIE would be the Recording Secretary for the UNITED EMPIRE LOYALIST Vancouver Branch, ---DOROTHY wasborn in Linday Ontario and was a secretary to the Canadian Author's Association, DOROTHY was a Kawarthas resident and is listed on the Kawarthas Writers history (an online resource) as an author, ---ISAAC wrote a number of books, I believe DOROTHY only wrote one book, ( a book of poetry, MATER SILVA, which she illustrated herself), any image directly beside this listing is the actual book and not a generic photo /// SIGNED ---GUARANTEED to be AVAILABLE/// ---sizes are approximate (generally within 1/8 inch)--- Size: 5.25w x 7.75h Inches.
