Inscribed by the author on the front endpaper. Dust jacket has some wear with edge tears/wrinkles, price unclipped. Blue boards have small dent right edge, sunned top edge, some white spots front, extremities lightly rubbed. Pencil name inside front cover. First printing 1954. The subject was an English statesman and poet who exerted considerable political power during the reign of Charles II of England. All orders packed with care, dust jackets protected by Brodart sleeve, independent bookseller since 2011.
