What if every child had extraordinary strengths—just waiting to be discovered,
nurtured, and celebrated?
In Raising Superman, Ricky II Brown and Dr. El Brown invite readers into their unfiltered
journey of growth, resilience, and discovery. Told through the dual lens of a young man
embracing his autism as a gift and his mother’s intentional approach to parenting,
advocacy, and engagement, this book offers a heartfelt and authentic account of how a
child grows from being a preschooler who is nonverbal to a young man who identified
himself as Superman—through the power of a Top-Notch Village.
• From Ricky II’s perspective, experience what it’s like to navigate the world as an
individual on the autism spectrum—breaking barriers, unlocking opportunities, and
achieving remarkable things.
• From Dr. El’s perspective, gain insight into the strategies, advocacy, and village-
building that shaped his journey—and can shape the journey of any child.
• Together, their voices illuminate the power of engagement, introducing the Village
Engagement Matrix, a framework designed to ensure every child has access to a
village that moves in alignment to help them reach their full potential.
This book is a blueprint for action—a guide to discovering, nurturing, and celebrating the
unique gifts of every child. It challenges parents, educators, and village members to create
ecosystems that empower children to rise beyond expectations, realize their dreams, and
contribute meaningfully to our global society.
