Add to basketVery good in clean decorated cloth boards with floral decorations surrounding a rabbit. Spine stamped brightly in blue lettering. Clean and tight throughout; light wear to the corners. This copy has a signed presentation in ink on the half-title page: "For those good friends the Achorn's with best from all at Rabbit Hill. Robert Lawson." In a dust jacket with the Newberry Award sticker on the front panel and the price of $2.00 at the top of the inside front flap. The jacket is good only with chipping along the tops of the front and rear panels, edge-wear, and uniform soiling to the rear panel. Robert Lawson (1892 1957) was an American writer and illustrator of children's books. His work was widely admired, and he became the first, and so far only, person to be given both the Caldecott Medal, for They Were Strong and Good (1941), and a Newbery Award, for Rabbit Hill (1945). First Edition with matching dates of 1944 on the title and copyright pages and "Published September 1944" on the copyright page. 1st Edition with "First published September 1944" on the copyright page.
