Philadelphia: J.B. Lippincott & Co., 1880. John Welsh (1805-1886) was a prominent businessman in Philadelphia; at the time of writing this pamphlet he was President of the Board of Trade there. He had served as a diplomat to England from 1877-1879, when he was instrumental in securing the release of several Fenian prisoners. This is a Here is a rare pamphlet, a Very Good copy of the First Edition. Softbound, in blue paper wraps. Cean text; 16 pages. This copy has been SIGNED and Inscribed "With the Compliments of John Welsh" on the front cover. Very light edgewear, with some slight darkening at the margins. There is a vertical crease due to folding at some time; not really affecting the text or the covers. Inscribed By Author. First Edition. Soft Cover. Very Good (Plus)/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
