First printing. Publisher's Advance Reading Copy, SIGNED by McCarthy. 8vo. 297 pp. Original illustrated brown wrappers. In the publisher's matching illustrated brown cardstock slipcase. SIGNED by McCarthy on the front free endpaper, as issued by Knopf. Since the death of McCarthy, the trade has been awash in "signed" first trade editions of highly questionable authenticity. This is especially true with books which would have little, if any, collectible value unsigned. The surest way to collect true signed books by McCarthy is with publisher's issued signed copies. This is a tight, fine book in a slightly used near fine slipcase.
