A politically charged and historically significant anthology of Italian poetry, issued in Rome in 1934 under the Fascist regime, gathering contributions from a wide circle of contemporary writers aligned culturally or ideologically with the period. The volume is preserved in its original publishers binding and features a striking typographic cover design, explicitly referencing the Fascist identity through its title: Poeti in Camicia Nera (Poets in Black Shirts). This copy is distinguished by a substantial contemporary inscription, dated 7 December XIII (1934), reading: Per il Maestro Massimo Bontempelli… Roma riconosce nelle genti allora storia. Signed: Walter Trillini The inscription establishes a clear association between Walter Trillini—himself listed among the contributors—and Massimo Bontempelli, one of the most important literary figures of the Italian Futurist and Novecento movements. This transforms the book from a standard anthology into a network artifact of Italian literary modernism under Fascism, linking contributor to recipient within an identifiable intellectual circle. Notably, the printed front cover also bears a quotation attributed to Mussolini, reinforcing the ideological framing of the publication. Condition; Original publishers boards, with light wear and some surface marking consistent with age. Internally clean, with minor toning. The inscription is clear, bold, and well preserved. Why This Matters; This is not merely a period anthology, it is: A primary cultural document of Fascist-era literary production An association copy linking Walter Trillini to Massimo Bontempelli A named contributor inscribing to a major literary figure A material artifact of the intersection between politics, literature, and identity in 1930s Italy Offered by Atlas Rare Books, specialists in rare and antiquarian books.…
