Small-press publisher Steven C. Vascik published Michael Connelly's THE POET in a signed, limited edition of 125 numbered copies, 75 author's presentation copies, and 26 lettered copies. This beautiful specimen is an author's presentation copy, given to this bookseller by Connelly, who he'd known since the publication day of his first novel, THE BLACK ICE. It's a beautiful edition, with an introduction by Connelly fan Stephen King, in 8vo gilt-stamped brown leather with a leatherette slipcase. Weirdly, INSIDE the slipcase (as pictured), someone did a quick calculation (which could only have been done before the slipcase was folded and glued). Was it Vascik? Connelly? Journalist Jack McEvoy? Somebody at the printer? It's a mystery--and it makes this extremely rare copy absolutely unique.

Store description
A bookseller's passion is connecting people with books they'll love. To that end, I try to provide more than just a sales listing, but a description of what makes each book a special and unique item, maybe a little personal history of my relationship with the author, and of course, a detailed accounting of any flaws (hey, I'm a collector, too). I'm a long-time bookseller/author/publisher/editor with almost 40 years of experience in virtually every aspect of the book business, and I'm slowly liquidating my massive personal collection. The books are mostly high-quality modern first editions, primarily in the genres of SF/Fantasy, Horror, Crime/Mystery, Thriller, but assorted other gems as well. For more about my work, you can check my rarely updated website at jeffmariotte.com, and you can always drop me a line through ABE. Thanks for taking a look at my store.…
