Small 8vo, 192 pages, photographic frontispiece plate, good condition in 19th Century green calf, spine gilt decorated in compartments within raised bands, red leather title label, all edges gilt, edges and corners of boards rubbed, wear with some loss at the top and bottom of the spine, front joint cracked, spine faded to brown, occasional marks on the pages, heaviest on the title page. Author's presentation copy to his son, William Brown, with inscription on the front free end-paper ("To/Mr William Brown/from his father/28 May 1872").
