Tall 8vo. 57pp. Bound in Black cloth boards with silver gilt titles to spine. Illustrated with Black & white illustrations. . On front loose endpaper is the Surrealist bookplate of Andrew Murray. SIGNED by the artist, Edward Ardizzone. Book is very clean inside and out. All firm. The dustjacket is clipped, and has two small tears , the biggest on the back dust wrapper, 2xm (1 inch), the other 5mm (.25 inches) ,slightly dusty with minimal wear, otherwise a very good almost fine copy. Size 22x 14cm (8.75 x 5.5 inches) The account of Lewis s brief respite from parental pressure present s a vision of a world precisely balanced between eccentricity and logic. The result is a story at once hilarious and touching. A Truly funny book; there s more to it than meets the eye… Provenance: Andrew Murray, Director of Mayor Gallery, Cork Street, London. The Mayor Gallery exhibited Ardizzone s work in the 1960 s . Andrew Murray lent his personal collection of books and prints etc. to the travelling exhibition by Middlesbrough Museum in 1982.
