First novel. "October 31, 1984 begins like any other day for Gopal Pandey, a tea-seller worrying as usual about his errant son as he sets up his stall in a lane off Chandni Chowk--the most significant and crowded street in New Delhi.By the end of the day, Indira Gahdhi has been assassinated, violent riots have errupted and Gopal is the bemused possessor of a large sum of money. Fourteen turbulent years later and four turning points in Indian history later, this myopic tea-seller stands on the verge of immense political power.".
