Half leather binding by Zabriskie, signed in gilt GAZ to the base of the front paste down, gilt titles to the spine, two raised bands, inner gilt dentelles, with bells to the corners. Twenty-four pages, complete. Five black and white illustrations, complete. A reprinted article about John C. Fremont, "Pathfinder of the West." The following is the printed text within the inscription: "At this Christmas time maybe a reprint of an article which appeared in a recent New-York Historical Society Quarterly will help illustrate the debt of gratitude we owe to our pioneers, and in a world so shaken by dictations and dissensions remind us also of the opportunities we enjoy for personal development and individual achievement. Zabriskie (1868-1954) was an American author, president of several prominent baking corporations, and the 22nd president of the New York Historical Society who served from 1939-1947.
