A good tight green cloth binding, edges rubbed and bumped. Illustrated front board, image dulled. Titles in red to both front board and spine. Smooth spine dulled and rubbed. Endpapers lightly foxed. Handwritten dedication to front endpaper: "Hettie Tutin from J. H. S. to remember June 15th-20th 1901." Also; bookseller's blind stamp to front endpaper: "W. H. Smith & Son, London". Half-title present. Black & white photo frontispiece + 29 further black & white photo plates within the text, pages toned.
