Two reasonably sized hardback books, Volume I & Volume II, both books are quarterbound in green cloth, finished with grey cloth on both the front and back boards. Silver coloured title impressions run along both spines, whilst the front boards have the publishers initials embossed in a silver colour. Both books come with, and fit in a black box, slipcase, slightly worn and torn, please see photos. The slipcase has a striking, coloured image on both sides, of a surgeon's hands, set for an operation with the surgical gloves and instruments. The books are in reasonably good condition, normal wear, marks and tear apply consistent with use and age. Volume I is signed in pen and ink and states as follows: " This copy is "Stuffed" with good wishes & thanks from Authors & Publishers". There is included in the book a Chapter on Anaesthesia by Ivan Magill, with a foreword by Jerome Pierce Webster. (Included in this sale is a letter from Sir Ivan Magill (headed note paper, with address 149, Harley Street, W.1.) which would indicate that potentially Sir Ivan Magill may have owned these books. Volume I has 317 numbered pages, all intact (except between pages 230 & 231 are two pages of coloured images/plates, plate IV page has come away but is still ok.) Volume II has pages numbered 320 to 652. Also included with this sale is a three page paper clipped, typed, document referencing Sir Ivan Whiteside Magill and several other distinguished people, at the top right-hand side of the first page is the the name George Lee dated Jan. '87. Also included is the printed journal "PRACTICAL USES OF THE TUBED PEDICLE FLAP" by Sir Harold Gillies, C.B.E. F.R.C.S., F.A.C.S. (HON.) Plastic Surgeon, St. Bartholomew's Hospital and St. Andrews Hospitals and the London County Council. London, England. I have also included with this specific sale a range of medical instruments that may have been used in the art of plastic surgery, please see photographs. I believe the two books and accompanied material are most interesting and probably very rare indeed. Seller Inventory # 1400
