His style was strongly influenced by Art Deco, while at the same time firmly grounded in the fantastic and the strange. Phobia is Vassos' most personal work, an examination of twenty-four of the numerous and varied fears that plague humankind, including Nichtophobia (The Fear of the Dark), Potamophobia (The Fear of Running Water), Necrophobia (The Fear of the Dead), Dromophobia (The Fear of Crossing the Street), and Phagophobia (The Fear of Swallowing). Each "phobia" included is fantastically illustrated and described expertly by Vassos. 107 pages with illustrations.
