Item description from seller

First edition from November 1921. Signed with gift inscription from author on front endpaper, dated October 31st, 1922. Hardcover, no dust jacket. Book condition is G-. Overall, pages are bright, clean and clear of writing, markings and highlighting. A few pages (~10-20) throughout have minor blemishes in spots (e.g., faded smudges, a small dot shaped stain, one pages has what looks like a graphite smear mark). Binding a bit loose with age, with widening in the gutters in spots throughout text, with thread-holes and mesh visible in spots. There's a crack/split in gutter on pg 12-121 at bottom of gutter, going halway up the gutter. On pg 300-301, binding thread very prominent in gutter. Erased pencil on front and back endpaper. Book plate from previous owner on front endpaper. A few dings and scratches to top, fore and bottom edges of text block, causing minor edge damage to some pages. Hinges are a bit tender (have some give when pressure is applied), but overall robust with gutter endpaper fully intact, and feels firm. Bottom corners of hardcover boards notably bumped, curling inwards. Light-moderate bumping and rubbing along bottom edges. Gold ink on spine rubbing a bit; minor bubbling of fabric in a few spots. Pages lightly toned around edges.…
