True first British printing (full print run includes '1'). No jacket as issued. Signed and dedicated (To Stacey) by the author in blue ink directly to title page. Engravings by John Lawrence. Includes the two unused inserts (Wind Compass and Peril of the Pole) to back pocket. Blue boards with white lettering to spine and pictorial label to front are near fine with the odd very small mark, a hint of pushing to corners and very minor pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine. Pages are clean and the binding is tight. Pages are slightly tanned. Odd small scratch to edge and bottom of a few pages. No other faults. A nice copy. All books described honestly and accurately. About the Authors

Philip Pullman is one of the most highly respected children's authors writing today.
