Item description from seller
First Edition (first printing). A presentation copy, inscribed by the editor on the front free endpaper using only his Christian name. 8vo. 155pp. Brown cloth lettered in gold at the spine. A little partial toning to the endpapers, half-title and to one unprinted rear flyleaf. A very good copy in dust soiled and slightly nicked non-price-clipped dust wrapper, with some fading to the publisher's red spine panel lettering. Autobiographical accounts by five Second World War conscientious objectors: Sydney Carter, Stuart Smith, D.S.Savage, Mark Holloway and the editor (the latter, having been granted exemption at a tribunal subsequently ceased being a 'conchy' and joined the Army, taking part in the Normandy landings and ending the war with the rank of captain).
