460pp.green cloth with red lettering, light general wear and soiling, name and date in ink at front fly, in dust jacket with minor wear and soiling, and a bit of rubbing along the folds, and a shallow chips at spine ends and ends of folds, now housed in protective Brodart cover. Cut autograph of author tipped-in at title-page, with mailing address also in his hand, clipped from a mailer. We corresponded with the author in the 1980's from our bookstore in Louisville, KY, and the author -- also a Kentuckian -- would sign books we mailed to him and send them back to us. First edition of the author's first novel. A fictional account of the Black Patch Tobacco War in western Kentucky in early 1900. Grimshaw A3.a1.
