A fine first edition (First Edition stated on the copyright page) in a near fine first issue dust jacket with very minor wear, inscribed by White to fellow New Yorker writer Joseph Mitchell. With a letter of provenance from the previous owner explaining that she got the book directly from her mother, who also worked at the New Yorker and was the partner of Mitchell, who was also the godfather of the book's owner. Housed in a custom-made clamshell case decorated in leather and gilt lettering. Comes with a current edition of the classic book. Seller Inventory # 1904001
