Octavo, [8], 329 pages. In Good plus condition, lacking issued dust jacket. Spine blue with gilt lettering. Boards bound in same blue cloth with mild shelf wear on covers and board edges. Patches of rubbing wear on spine and mildly at fore corners. Small white scuff on back cover. Text block shows mild shelf wear to edges with expected age toning. ~2 inch open tear on margin of page 253/254 - page contents unaffected. Material from open tear is attached to fore edge of preceding leaf (page 251/252). Red pencil underlining on page 287; pencil writing in bottom margin of page 307. Inscribed by Dawes on front flyleaf: "For Carl A. Loeffler / from his friend & his father's friend / Charles Dawes / July 6th 1936" Illustrations unpaginated, and not included in count. All leaves and plates appear present. Inscribed by Dawes to Carl A. Loeffler, a long-time Senate employee who served as party secretary for the Senate Republicans from 1929-1947 and Secretary of the Senate from 1947-1949. 1400266. Special Collections.
