Item description from seller

A First Edition of an Early Hyperspace Work Signed by the Founder of the Order of the White Rose, James Charles Freemont Grumbine. Robert T. Browne The Mystery of Space: A Study of the Hyperspace Movement and an Inquiry into the Genesis and Essential Nature of Space. 1919. New York: E. P. Dutton and Company, 1919. 8 x 5.5 inches. 395 pp. Blue cloth with gilt borders to the front cover and gilt titles to the front cover and spine. Very Good. An early twentieth-century exploration of hyperspace theory and its philosophical and psychological implications. Browne examines the development of non-Euclidean geometry, higher dimensions, and changing conceptions of space, while also engaging with contemporary ideas about consciousness and the emergence of new psychic faculties. The work reflects a period in which speculative science, philosophy, and psychical research overlapped, particularly in discussions of space as more than a purely physical construct. Illustrated throughout with in-text diagrams and figures. This copy is signed by J. C. F. Grumbine, founder of the esoteric Order of the White Rose. Grumbine’s teachings emphasized inner divinity, psychic development, and the evolution of human consciousness, themes that closely parallel Browne’s interest in hyperspace and expanded modes of perception. His ownership of this volume aligns naturally with the Order of the White Rose’s blending of Spiritualism, mysticism, and metaphysical inquiry. It is in Very Good condition. Light fading to the spine and bumped corners. Mild toning to the first few leaves and very light toning throughout. Occasional pencil markings present. Otherwise clean and sound. 8 x 5.5 inches. 395 pp. Blue cloth with gilt borders to the front cover and gilt titles to the front cover and spine. Very Good.
