First edition. Folio, 32.4*18.3cm, 228 double leaves. Sewn binding. Front and back paper covers chipped and torn at edges, now mounted on heavy stock paper,otherwise a fine copy with clean pages and firm binding. Text in Chinese and English, with translations of poetry relating to the site. Inscribed by Phelps on first page in 1944; enclosed is a letter on Omei letterhead from Phelps to the host of some event where he spoke. There's also a card inserted in the book, presenting the book to the person addressed in the letter, dated 1940. More photos available upon request.
