Item description from seller

First Edition. Each of the 11 plates contains over 20 monograms or marks of the leading engravers of each region. Very good clean condition with light foxing on the edges, away from the images. On the original woven demy paper. Engravings are 21 cm x 27 cm. From the Cyclopaedia by Rees, published in 1820. Photographs of the original engravings can be provided on request. Hand signed with monogram on the back of each plate, probably by publisher. Featured are the monograms of Holbein, Durer, Cranach, Mantegna and many others. These careful and intricate replications of monograms and artists' marks are things of beauty in their own right. Paperback. No dj.
