Inscribed by Kennelly on half-title page. Stated First printing November 1956. Terracotta cloth boards with brown lettering on front cover, spine stamped in red and brown. Light blemish on ffep, else interior is clean. Dust jacket shows heavy wear at spine ends and corners; not price clipped ($3.95); in a clear archival sleeve. 433 pages. 8 x 5.4 inches. Scarce copy of Kennelly's fifth and final novel. Inscribed ''To Betty / with every good / wish of / Ardyth Kennelly''. Below the inscription there is a penciled note indicating that Ardyth was a ''friend of Veronica Tracy.'' [For reference, Tracy was a teacher at Albany High School for many years, at least as early as the 1930-31 school year. Kennelly graduated from Albany High School in 1929.] Laid-in is newspaper clipping from The Oregonian, profiling Kennelly's art exhibit at a Portland gallery in 1996.
