8vo. First US Edition; a VG/NF copy in VG/NF unclipped dustwrapper with mylar cover. Holograph inscription "To dear Rayner Heppenstall from Henry Reed March 1948" on front endpaper. John Rayner Heppenstall ( 1911 - 1981 ) was a British novelist, poet, diarist, and a BBC radio producer. Very slight foxing and knocks but generally VG/NF condition. This iconic book includes Reed's poem 'Lessons of War', from which 'Naming of Parts' is much-celebrated. It also includes the well known T S Eliot parody poem 'Chard Whitlow'.
