True account of the Marine Lt. Colonel who was forced to eject from his F8U Crusader jet in July 1959 from on a flight from South Wymouth, MA, to Beaufort, SC, in the middle of a thunderstorm. His incredible survival after falling 47,000 feet without special equipment in the middle of rain, thunder, & lightening, trapped in the middle of the storm itself for over half an hour, made aviation history. A FIRST EDITION, First Printing, from 1960, this hardcover is SIGNED by the AUTHOR on the ffep in black pen with a personalized, dated, inscription. Octavo, black cloth-covered boards & a red symbol on front & lettering to spine. Condition is Near Fine: exceptionally clean & bright, binding strong & straight, pages modestly tanned but completely unmarked. Corners crisp.
