The first edition of this collection of poetry, one of James Gregor Grant's chief literary works, Madonna Pia, signed by the author. Volume One of Two only. Very scarce in any state. The only presentation copy we can find. With the ink inscription to the title page, 'Henry Ogden, Esq: M.D. with the very sincere regards and respects of The Author'. With the armorial bookplate of Norman Dakeyne Newall to the front pastedown. Bound by Westleys & Clark, with a bookbinder label to the rear pastedown. James Gregor Grant, d.1875, was a poet, dramatist, novelist, and critic. He resided in Sunderland for the majority of his life. In a cloth binding. Externally, a little bumping, with a few marks. The front joint is starting. The front hinge is very slightly strained. Internally, firmly bound, with occasional handling marks or spots, and marginal light tidemarks from page 130 to the rear. Very Good.
