Presentation copy from the author to the British psychiatrist, anthropologist and academic Morris Carstairs with clear ink inscription to the front endpaper. First Edition. Hardback in the dust-jacket which has a slightly faded spine. A Fine copy of this novel about a TV producer making a documentary about HG Wells. Morris Carstairs was Professor of Psychological Medicine at the University of Edinburgh from 1961 to 1973, President of the World Mental Health Organization from 1968 to 1972, and Vice-Chancellor of the University of York from 1973 to 1978. At the age of ten his family had moved from India to Edinburgh where he received his education at George Watson's College before going on to study medicine at the Edinburgh University. He was also a talented runner in his youth, becoming Scottish three miles champion in 1937, 1938 and 1939 and representing Scotland at the 1937 International University Games. He also represented Great Britain at the 1938 European Athletics Championships, coming sixth in the Men's 5000 meters. Seller Inventory # 11028
