William Golding (1954) ‘Lord of the Flies’, UK first edition, first printing, published by Faber and Faber. Together with a paperback copy of the title, signed by author William Golding. Condition: a fine book with no inscriptions, no stamps, no bookplates, clean page block edges and boards vibrant with their original red colour to boards and spine. White lettering on the spine vibrant. The book is square with no lean. The very good original first state dust jacket displays the Christ Recrucified By Nikos Kazantzakis blurb on the rear flap as called for. Price clipped with just a little edge wear as shown. No tears, NOT rerstored in any way. A beautiful copy. One of the defining landmark novels of 20th century fiction published, studied by generations of pupils in school. The book contributed greatly to Golding’s 1983 Nobel Prize in Literature. Golding also won the Booker Prize in 1980 for ‘Rites of Passage’. First and Fine.
