Item description from seller

21 x 14 cm. 313pp. Grey cloth in worn dust jacket which has some tape repair. Signed and inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper. Several pieces out of jacket. Foxing to endpapers. From the jacket: "Mary Quinn was an eager 18 year old when her father and uncle took their big families and a wagon train of merchandise over the Oregon Trail in 1865. She gives us a child's-eye view of going over the Trail - the excitement and the boredom, the campfires and stories by night, the slow monotonous pushing forward by day, monotony interrupted by dust storms, quicksands, snake bite. (God help the mother's) Crossing the country was just the introduction to Mary Quinn's wanderings. Home loving and passionately longing to settle down, Mary spent 25 years of her life following first her father and then her husband in their restless movement from farm to boom town to prairie homestead and back again. This is an autobiography written by the subjects daughter - an impossibility but here it is." First edition with R emblem on copyright page.…
