About this Item
Stated First Edition. Flat-signed by the author on the front end paper. Once listed, this will be the Only signed copy of this book for sale anywhere on the Internet. As you can see, the covers of both the book and the dust jacket are very nice condition. There may be a sliver of loss at the bottom edge of the spine, although I suppose it's possible the paper there only went down so for as it doesn't appear to be anywhere at its edge. The there is some light rubbing at the bottom edges. The corners look very good. The top page edge has a light reddish topstain. The middle and bottom page edges are lightly deckled or rough-cut. They did a good job. Some of the pages are cut shorter than others, but they all have smooth edges. The book is square and the spine is straight. The binding is very solid from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. The pages are exceptionally clean scrolling through, I'm not finding any conspicuous soiling. Same goes for creasing, no placeholder creases. I did find two consecutive pages that had a teeny tiny (say 1/16th of an inch) loss at their bottom corners. There are no markings anywhere in the book. There are no attachments of any kind. And the author's signature is the only writing to be found anywhere. I've always had the jacket fitted protective cover. It was actually on the book when I purchased it years ago. The jacket is exceptionally clean, even the white rear cover. There is very little wear, a little scratch short scuff off the top edge of the spine. The white flaps are also exceptionally clean, no soiling. There's a small (half-inch) thin crease or crinkle at the top edge of the rear flap. The jacket is NOT priced-clipped, not clipped at all. I will refit it with a new protective cover after the photos are scanned. Great combination of the Only Signed copy with Both the book and dust jacket in collectible condition. From the dust jacket: 'This most tender and poignant of Robert Nathan's endearing tales will truly warm the hearts of us all. There has been no love story like it since Portrait of Jennie.' Long After Summer was televised on the Alcoa Hour in 1956 with Robert Preston in the lead. Seller Inventory # 005080
