First UK edition, signed by the artist on the half-title, "Ralph Steadman 14 Oct. 98", with an original drawing of a lizard-like creature. This is Steadman's homage to Leonardo da Vinci's inventions and artwork. In preparation, Steadman recreated several of da Vinci's projects, including building a flying machine and painting a small-scale copy of The Last Supper on his bedroom wall. Quarto. Illustrated by Steadman. Original green cloth, spine lettered in gilt, buff endpapers. With dust jacket. Edges a little sunned, a couple of marks to covers; slight wear to extremities of unclipped jacket, faint brown spots to flaps, price neatly crossed out: a near-fine copy in like jacket.
