Item description from seller

The spine is faded and there is a small patch of discolouration at the top of the front panel. There is rubbing and bumping to the corners. There is some browning to the page edges. The front free endpaper has the bookplate of Anthony Edwards, Life Fellow of Gonville & Caius College and retired Professor of Biometry at the University of Cambridge. This book was part of his collection of Cambridge books which was a reflection of his keen and active interest in the governance of the Collegiate University. There is another ownership note to the reverse of the front free endpaper and the half-title page has 'With the author's Compts' in ink at the top. The previous owner has also written his name twice on the front endpapers. The pages have some annotations in pencil in a number of places and there is some page browning but the pages are otherwise generally clean and unmarked. No jacket. First printing.
