Large square 8vo. Original pictorial boards. pp. [iv], 5-59 + [ii]; illustrated with 3 double-page coloured plates and 20 other half-page line drawings. On front loose endpaper is the Surrealist bookplate of Andrew Murray. SIGNED by the artist, Edward Ardizzone. The binding has light rubbing along extremities, light fold on front endpaper, otherwise a very good copy. First English edition: also issued in the same year by the World Publishing Company, Cleveland and New York. A delightful children's story set in the mountains of Andorra as the village prepares for the annual fiesta. A small girl's excitement is redirected when a fascinating lady, in search of a rare little butterfly, pays a visit. Size 24 x 16.5cm (9.25 x 8.75 inches) Provenance: Andrew Murray, Director of Mayor Gallery, Cork Street, London. The Mayor Gallery exhibited Ardizzone s work in the 1960 s . Andrew Murray lent his personal collection of books and prints etc. to the travelling exhibition by Middlesbrough Museum in 1982.
