"Every bit as funny, wicked, and lovable as her bestselling memoirs." Valerie Frankel. "Fans of John Hughes will be delighted by the eighties film references, but the book also stands alone as a timeless soon-to-be classic." Caprice Crane Known for her hilariously witty New York Times bestselling memoirs, Jen Lancaster has now written a histerical debut novel about a couple, their suburban dream - and a DIY nightmare. Mia has no doubt that she and her husband, Mac, can win a war of spray-painted words with the young thug who keeps tagging their property. After all, they're gainfully employed, college-educated Chicagoans. Mia even makes a living churning out popular teen Amish-zombie romances. But the charm of living in the city has definitely worn off, driving them to pack it all in, round up their pets, and move to the suburbs that John Hughes's movies made famous. 306 pp. 8vo. Cantaloupe color paper covered boards. White paper spine stamped in metallic red.

Told in the uproariously entertaining voice readers have come to expect from Jen Lancaster, If You Were Here follows Amish-zombie-teen- romance author Mia and her husband Mac (and their pets) through the alternately frustrating, exciting, terrifying-but always funny-process of buying and renovating their first home in the Chicago suburbs that John hughes's movies made famous. Along their harrowing renovation journey, Mia and Mac get caught up in various wars with the homeowners' association, meet some less-than-friendly neighbors, and are joined by a hilarious cast of supporting characters, including a celebutard ex- landlady. As they struggle to adapt to their new surroundings- with Mac taking on the renovations himself- Mia and Mac will discover if their marriage is strong enough to survive months of DIY renovations.
