Volumes 2 & 3: D/ws slightly rubbed at the spine heads. Label, signed in black ink, to each title page. All jackets unclipped. Near fine in near fine d/ws. Memorably adapted for television with Alec Guinness and for film with Gary Oldman, Tinker, Tailor exposes a mole at the top of the British Secret Service.The Honourable Schoolboy takes the fight to Karla in the Far East. Smiley's People was dedicated to the author's sons, including Nicholas, aka Nick Harkaway, who has now published his own novel, featuring George Smiley, Karla's Choice. Three separate books, 'Tinker Tailor' and 'Smiley's People' are first impressions, 'Honourable Schoolboy' is a second impression, published later the same year, a tribute to the book's success. 'Schoolboy'has the rare 'China Sea' map variant endpapers. None are ex library. Tinker Tailor pub 1974, pp 349, and the sequels The Honourable Schoolboy 532pp, pub 1977, and Smiley's People pub 1980, pp 327. All three books have some edge wear, chipping, creasing, small loss and closed tears to top and bottom of jacket and spine, corners rubbed with small loss, and time stained, none have any inscriptions, overall in vg condition for its age, none are price clipped (£2.95, £4.94, £5.95). All have a very slight lean. Top of text block on 'Tinker Tailor' dyed purple as issued, text blocks of all are clean and tight. Books generally in very good+ condition. Jackets protected by film wrappers. Scarce John Le Carre classics, filmed for tv with Alec Guinness in the leading role as Smiley, and now a film starring Gary Oldman. A superb later impression set of The Karla Trilogy, with all three volumes signed by the author on matching plates to the ffep: Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy ('This impression 1985' stated), The Honourable Schoolboy (6th impression, 1982), Smiley's People (4th impression, 1980). Each volume is Fine: tight and square binding in sharp blue boards; crisp and clean, presenting as unread (just a tiny trace of spotting to the top-edge of the page block of TTSS). The dustwrappers are Fine, or very nearly Fine (HS): bright, vibrant and unfaded; minor wrinkling to the spine tips of TTSS, a hint of rubbing to the extremities of SP, and a 6mm closed tear to the top of the spine of HS. The wrappers are presented in removable, archival-quality Brodart protective covers. Excellent copies with the distinction of the author's signature. The jacket is crisp and in lovely condition except for the lifting of a small triangular bit of the surface layer of the bottom edge of the front panel; else a beautiful clean unmarked book. Feels nearly new. THE HONOURABLE SCHOOLBOY - 1st UK printing, 1977. A Near Fine book, with head/foot of spine lightly pushed, previous owner name has been stroked through on the top edge of illustrated endpapers, else an unmarked copy. Full-colour illustrated end papers. In a Near Fine dust jacket in which the top and bottom edges are lightly chipped. Blue cloth boards with gilt titles on the spine. SMILEY'S PEOPLE - 1st UK Edition, 1979. A Fine unmarked book. In the complete Dust Jacket with original price of £5.95 net in UK intact. The jacket has light wear to the extremities, a couple of tiny closed tears to the corners, but now beautifully preserved in a jacket sleeve. Overall, a very nice copy.
