About the Author

Joan Hiatt Harlow is a native of the suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts. The warm summer ocean air always stirred up an unusual aroma in Boston, which she discovered later was the long-lasting result of the "Great Molasses Flood" of 1919. The facts of this strange tragedy inspired her to write Joshua's Song. Mrs. Harlow's first novel, Star in the Storm, was named an American Booksellers Association Kid's Pick of the Lists in 2000.
