Most of the dust jacket is present (showing original price of $1.50 to front flap), but the jacket is missing its spine, reducing jacket grade to "fair." Datelined Austin, Texas 1944, inscribed to James and Myrtle Markham (possibly 1913-1983, of Kingsport, Sullivan County, Tennessee) and signed "J. Frank Dobie" in his usual style in blue fountain pen to the blank FFE. Subject John Crittenden Duval (1816-1897), last of the 28 survivors of the Goliad Massacre, wrote "Adventures of Big-Foot Wallace, Texas Ranger and Hunter" (1870) and "Early Times in Texas" (initially for Burke's Weekly in 1867, finally published in book form in 1892.) This Texas biography now reduced from $300.
