A fine first edition. NY , 1974. This is a first edition , first printing of the iconic novel. The book is in the original binding which is fine and is in a fine unclipped dust jacket. ALSO with this book is the RARE Original dust jacket for the book. Not seen anywhere since the book was published. The tale is that when the dust jacket's original mock up was submitted, it did Not have the illustration of the Woman swimming above and the Shark about to attack from below. The jacket was never released for publication. Doubleday apparently rejected this original dust jacket as kinda bland and thus the illustration of a woman and the Shark was added on a second dust wrapper. In most cases this is accepted as the first issue jacket. BUT we know better. Today the First jacket with no woman or shark on it is unheard of and until our copy came along was an unobtainable example of the true first jacket. This jacket is also in near fine condition with a slight smudge to the S in Jaws.The book comes with both dust jackets. The RARE jacket is very near fine, with the original price on it ($ 6.95 ). And to make it a bit more appealing, this book has been SIGNED on the front end paper by the author , Peter Benchley. Thought that might catch your attention.
