James Kidmans Renaissance Table is a beautifully conceived and photographed collection of recipes designed for the home cook. Kidmans passion for quality ingredients, simple yet innovative combinations, and the abundance of Italian hospitality brings new vitality to Italian cooking.
Kidman developed an affinity for Italian food, wine, and culture during his apprenticeship in some of Sydneys most iconic kitchens. His extensive travels in Italy confirmed for him the beauty and generosity of an Italian approach to dining and hospitality. He reinterpreted Italian food to wide acclaim as head chef of Otto Ristorante in Sydney and now combines art with his love of food as executive chef at the National Gallery of Australia and his informal Italian restaurant Dieci e Mezzo.
Renaissance Table is lavishly illustrated with photographs by Sharyn Cairns and includes over 100 recipes for all occasions, from appetizers to deserts. It includes an introduction on Italian food, art, and history by curator Christine Dixon as well as a section that includes Italian cooking essentials, a helpful glossary, and a conversion chart.
