Factory Cameras (& Books)
At Factory Cameras (& Books), we believe photography is more than an image—it’s a way of seeing, a way of remembering, and a way of understanding. Our small, independent shop is rooted in the repair and restoration of classic film cameras, but always encompassed a deep appreciation for the printed image as well. That’s why we now offer a curated selection of photo books, art monographs, and visual culture titles, along with occasional literary and design works that align with our aesthetic and ethos.
We specialize in photo books—both contemporary and classic—with an emphasis on documentary photography, street photography, and mid-to-late 20th century works. You’ll also find books that explore the material and cultural history of photography, including rare and out-of-print titles.
Our background in film photography gives us a particular lens through which we view books. We value precision, craft, and care—whether it’s in a beautifully bound monograph or a well-worn paperback with a story to tell. Every item we list is described with honesty and detail, and shipped with the same level of attention we give to our cameras.
Condition Grading
We err on the side of understatement. If we say a book is “Very Good,” it’s probably better than that. Any flaws—however minor—will be noted. We don’t sell surprises.
Shipping & Packaging
We pack with collectors in mind. Books are carefully wrapped and reinforced so they arrive safely and beautifully. We’re based in Canada, and ship internationally with reasonable rates.
Who We Are
Factory Cameras & Books is run by a photographer, writer, and camera technician with over 20 years of experience in the field. Our physical workshop is in Canada, where we restore cameras made by the world's best know brands, and where we obsess over good design, clean typography, and wonderful photography.
What Else?
• We’re open to requests—if there’s a book you’re looking for, let us know.
• We’re building a selection of small-press and self-published titles, including zines and photo notebooks.
• You can find us at factorycameras.com or on Instagram at [@factorycameras].
Factory Cameras & Books: For those who love the image—on paper or on film.
