First edition. Folio. 32 x 24 cm cream colored, pictorial wrappers, n. p. [11 pp.], illustrated by Harold D. Bugbee and written by J. Evetts Haley. Signed by Haley and with a folded Christmas card that reads "Merry Christmas Evetts and Nita Haley" laid-in. Privately printed for the author and distributed as a Christmas greeting. This is the first of a series of Christmas greetings distributed to family and friends by the Haleys. It recounts Bouldin's story of his first Christmas in a dugout in Texas during a harsh winter storm, a dramatic encounter with a pack of wolves and the bravery of a horse named Pickett .all leading up to that first Christmas morning.
