Item description from seller

Dark green 1/2 cloth, marbled paper-covered boards, spine panel lettered in gilt. Just a whisper of rubbing to extremities and a thin line of discoloration to cloth paralleling front joint. First 60 pp. of text show neat underlining and marginalia, considerable on some pages, in pencil and ink, unmarked thereafter, else solid Near Fine to Fine. We assume the notations to be in the hand of Einar Strindberg, who has signed and dated the main title 1929; this copy was found among a collection of scientific writings by August Strindberg, but we have not found a connection between the two Strindbergs. 201,[4] pp., illus. w/ XI b&w plates, 27 figures in text. A significant work in the history of physics, particularly in the development of quantum mechanics, bridging the gap between classical and quantum descriptions of radiation. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Store description

The Saucony Book Shop, located in the heart of scenic rural Berks County, epicenter of Pennsylvania German folk culture (our shop specialty), offers a full range of gently used, rare, and antiquarian books, with many volumes of scholarly merit and an unabashed emphasis on the quaint, the curious, and the utterly obscure. Hours by appointment or chance April through October, closed winters. Do drop by and browse the eclectic selection gracing our shelves, or ask our ferociously over-read staff for recommendations. If traveling from a distance, please call ahead to be sure that we're not off at another auction! Selling antiquarian books of merit since 1981.
