Gertrude Kurath was a dancer awarded for her work in ethno-musicology and dance. Gertrude Kurath, who wrote about Iroquois, Pueblo, and Six Nations songs anddances, among other topics, believed the study of dance for cultural analysis required the application of Interdisciplinary Dialogueof multiple disciplines (and possibly multiple individuals who each bring specialized training), suchas anthropology and ethnomusicology, together with a system of movement notation and someonewho could actually do the dancing/ movement one was studying (Kurath 1960). The work of Barbeau and Kurath overlapped and complimented each other, particularly in Algonquin tribal cultures. SCARCE.
