A tale following Hortensius as he attempts to save the Christian wife of a friend in the arena. For this act he is forced to flee Emperor Nero along with a Persian slave. Written by Edith Mary Pargeter, an English author recognised for her historical fiction and honoured for her translations of Czech classics. In the original full paper covered boards. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor chipping to the extremities. Minor discolouration and the odd small mark to the boards. Cracks to the joints at the head and tail of the spine. Original price-clipped dust wrapper is also smart with light wear to the extremities and the odd small closed tear. Minor sunning and the odd small mark to the panels. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot. Very Good.
