About this Item

Description:

First edition, first print. Flat-signed to the dedication page in black ink by the author. The book is in very good condition. Firm and square, with sharp corners, sharp boards, spine foot still largely firm, spine tip still firm; no marks to the text block which remains largely without toning, internally unmarked with no tears or dog-eared pages, book does not appear to have been read; the main issue is a crease to the bottom corner of the front free endpaper and a light diagonal crease across the same page, as well as a production fault: the bottom left-hand corner of the front pastedown endpaper has been folded under the endpaper at the time of printing. Otherwise, this book is in lovely condition. The dust jacket is not price-clipped and displays full colour to the spine. Some rippling to the top edge, otherwise fine. Giles Greenfield (illustrator). The book presented here is a first edition, first printing of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire signed in black ballpoint pen on Monday 10th July 2000 in The Ball room at the assembly Rooms, Edinburgh, for a signing event scheduled for between 19:00-20:00. This was Rowling's largest UK tour for any book in the series and the vast majority of copies were simply flat signed. The book is accompanied by the original golden ticket, hole punched on the day, which permitted attendees to meet Rowling and have their book signed. For the launch of the book in July 2000, J.K. Rowling embarked on a four day Hogwarts Express Book Tour, setting off in a red steam train from Kings Cross Station, visiting Oxford (Didcot), Manchester, York, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Perth. Books signed on this first part of the tour are more sought after and come with Golden Tickets with the title Hogwarts Express Book Tour across the top. J.K. Rowling returned a few days later for signing events at Harrods (London), Hatchards (London), Borders Books (Brighton), Ottakers (Kent) and Books etc (London). Here golden tickets were again issued however these tickets do not have the title across the top meaning that books signed at these later events are not as collectable. Most UK first printing copies were printed by Clays Ltd., but this copy was printed by Omnia Books Limited in Glasgow, making it particularly uncommon and highly sought after. This copy appears unread, with a square and tight binding and clean, white page edges which is rare for this book. The exterior of the book is in fine condition aside from some creasing to the base of the spine, which is the books only major flaw. Internally, there are no ownership inscriptions, marks, tears, or dog-eared pages. The dust jacket is in fine condition with no colour fading and is protected in a removable Brodart dust jacket cover. The signature comes fully authenticated by Adam Houston, The Harry Potter Specialist, the world's leading expert in authenticating J.K. Rowling's signature. The copy comes with a full authentication package, including a letter of authenticity, collector card, and golden ticket. Included is a navy blue cloth clamshell box with red inner trays and gold gilt lettering to the spine. This Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire first UK edition first printing, printed by Omnia Books Limited is a highly desirable collector's copy. Early signatures from the Hogwarts Express Book Tour, especially those accompanied by the titled golden ticket, are significantly rarer and more sought after than at the later signing events. Giles Greenfield (illustrator). A superb and highly desirable first edition, first printing of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, signed in black ballpoint pen by J. K. Rowling to the dedication page. This copy was signed on Monday 10th July 2000 at Waterstones Newcastle, for a signing event between 12:30 and 1:30pm, forming part of the legendary Hogwarts Express Book Tour. To mark the publication of the fourth Harry Potter book in July 2000, Rowling embarked on a remarkable four-day tour across the United Kingdom aboard a red steam train departing from King's Cross, visiting Didcot, Manchester, York, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Perth. Books signed during this initial leg of the tour are especially coveted, as attendees were issued distinctive golden tickets bearing the title 'Hogwarts Express Book Tour' across the top. J.K. Rowling returned a few days later for signing events at Harrods (London), Hatchards (London), Borders Books (Brighton), Ottakers (Kent) and Books etc (London). Here golden tickets were again issued however these tickets do not have the title across the top and are therefore not as collectable. The book and its dust jacket are presented in fine condition. The copy is unread, with a tight binding, square boards and sharp corners. The base of the spine has the tiniest indentation preventing a pristine grade. The pages are clean and bright, free from toning, creases, marks, ownership inscriptions or writing of any kind. There is no fading to either the book or the dust jacket, which remains unclipped, crisp, without creasing and is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. This exceptional example is accompanied by its original Hogwarts Express golden ticket, original purchase receipt, two original photographs from the event, and a three-page handwritten letter from the original recipient, Stephen Oliver, detailing his experience attending the signing, meeting Rowling, and having the book signed, providing a compelling and personal record of the occasion. The signature has been fully authenticated by Adam Houston 'The Harry Potter Specialist', widely regarded as the leading authority on Rowling's signature, and is supplied with a complete authentication package including a letter of authenticity and collector card. The book is further enhanced by a custom blue quarter leather clamshell box with elegant gold gilt lettering to the spine, offering both protection and a refined presentation. An outstanding and increasingly scarce signed first edition, combining impeccable condition, premier tour provenance, and a complete and highly desirable archive of accompanying materials, representing a significant opportunity for the serious collector. Hardcover. Condition: As New. Dust Jacket Condition: As New. Giles Greenfield (illustrator). 1st Edition. A superb example of the first Canadian edition, sixth printing of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, enhanced by an exceptionally rare and highly desirable authentically signed Raincoast bookplate. The signature is a 2000 variation of J.K. Rowling's signature on a striking blue decorative bookplate issued by Raincoast Books, the Canadian publisher of the Harry Potter series. This particular bookplate is widely regarded as the rarest known bookplate signed by Rowling for Harry Potter collectors to acquire. Only fifty were produced and signed, distributed exclusively to select booksellers during a private event in Vancouver in October 2000, attended by Rowling as a gesture of appreciation for their role in the success of the series in Canada. As is typical, the bookplate is affixed to the front free endpaper, most commonly encountered in sixth printings, as the title had been in circulation for several months by the time of the event. The design features a finely rendered gilt illustration of the Hogwarts Express, artwork by Cliff Wright, adding an additional layer of visual and collectible appeal. The book and dust jacket presented here are in pristine, unread condition. The binding remains tight, with square boards and sharp corners. The pages are exceptionally clean, free from toning, ownership inscriptions and unwanted marks of any kind. There is no colour fading at all to the book or dust jacket. The dust jacket is unclipped, has no creases and is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. The signature has been fully authenticated by Adam Houston, widely regarded as the foremost authority on J.K. Rowling's signature. The book comes complete with a full authentication package, including a letter of authenticity and collector card. Presented in a custom blue quarter-leather clamshell case, with elegant gilt lettering to the spine, this is a museum-quality example of one of the most elusive Rowling-signed issues?an exceptional opportunity for the discerning collector.
