First edition, first impression, signed by the author on the title page and by the illustrator on the rear panel of the dust jacket ("Cliff Wright '03"). Just over a year after the first book in the Harry Potter series was published, Bloomsbury released Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on 2 July 1998. The print-run as confirmed by the publisher, after consultation with the printer, was only 706 copies. However, other sources suggest that 10,150 copies were released to an expectant public in the UK. Harry Potter was, as yet, unavailable in the US. Errington A2(a). Octavo. Original matt laminated printed boards, spine and front cover lettered in white, green, blue, black, and red. With dust jacket. Housed in a custom green cloth slipcase. Head and foot of spine very slightly bumped, minor mark to front free endpaper, some very minor creases to unclipped jacket, some minor patches of abrasion to reverse: near-fine copy in like jacket.
