Store description
About Prelovedbooks - I am a small amateur collector selling a small number of books solely to buy more books! I consider myself a book collector rather than a bookselling business but collectors always need the funds to buy the next great book for their collection. I specialize in modern first editions (first printing in most cases), especially signed by the author, and mainly UK editions, which make ideal imaginative birthday and Christmas presents - such as Michael Morpurgo's 40th Anniversary edition of War Horse, signed directly to the book, not a bookplate. To me, a signed copy means the author has handled and added a little more of themself to that particular book when they would never generally see the vast majority that go on sale. I personally like and collect signed UK crime and thrillers from authors such as Frederick Forsyth and Jack Higgins, from current authors like Lee Child and Robert Harris, which also incidentally make great Xmas presents for Dads and Grandads! I am buying some new books for resale from authors I consider collectable, and books that hopefully will only increase in value. I also buy at auction houses, book fairs, or occasionally over the internet, so these books are almost never new, but I try and sell only books in very good or fine condition. I also have a few signed autobiographies and some odd items such as signed cinema posters. I have a number of signed books for sale by authors such as Billy Connolly, David Attenborough, Philip Pullman, Bill Bryson, Julia Donaldson and Gerald Durrell amongst many others. I strive to be honest with a book's description as I would expect to be treated in return, and I will pack and send securely. As a book lover I understand the joy of safely receiving a much wanted book in good condition. As a buyer my real pet hate is signed books offered for sale with a stock photo of the cover only - so essentially I'm buying something blind? Is it really that much effort to add a photo of the signature? That's why I'll always have photos of the actual signed books I have to offer on AbeBooks. Thank you for reading and please check out all my signed books. You never know!…
