A presentation copy, inscribed: "For Philip Jessup, in admiration, Donald Connery," on the front endpaper. The recipient, Philip C. Jessup, a United Nations ambassador at large and judge on the International Court of Justice at The Hague, was credited with playing a major role in ending the Soviet blockade of West Berlin. Both Jessup and Connery lived in the Litchfield Hills of Connecticut, not far from where the murder was committed. An unusual presentation copy.
